Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community
One of our favorite ways to spend a day is with a leisurely drive through the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community in Gatlinburg. Our Sevierville properties have easy access to the back entrance to the Community via Pittman Center Rd and Birds Creek Rd, so there’s no need to fight all the traffic going into Gatlinburg on a busy day. You can also check out the Brown Buffalo Farm on the way there! It’s a small stop off the road and the buffalo are always roaming.
The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community is a loop that winds through the hills to the shops of dozens of artisans and craftsmen. Although there are vendors who import things from other places, there are many, many local artisans to be found in the Community. Just look for the logo above, generally displayed on the business sign or in a front window to identify those that are local makers whose work is available for purchase.
As you travel through the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community, you can find a wide variety of handmade wares for purchase right from the makers. Whether you’re interested in pottery, photography, glassworks, candles, a new leather belt, or handmade furniture - there’s something for you in the Arts and Crafts Community.
Some shops move from time to time, so be sure to pick up one of the brochures with a map at the first place you stop so you can find your favorites! We’ll talk in more detail about each of our favorite shops over the next several posts.
